South African bank notes featuring Nelson Mandela has gone into circulation today, with hundreds, if not thousands flocking to the ATM to get hold of these notes. I know I was one of these people, where you?

The notes featuring (TATA) Nelson Mandela on one side and the country’s Big Five safari animals on the other, made its debut when the Governor of the Reserve Bank, Gill Marcus and President Jacob Zuma launched the new notes.

According to Gill Marus, “This is our way to pay tribute to him. Madiba does represent something special, not only in South Africa. He is really an extraordinary human being.” But she stated that the general public should not take these notes (keep them), but they should rather spend these notes for it to enter proper circulation.
