Conventional is a good fallback position isn’t it?

Caption: Wake up and smell the coffee, why don't you!
Source:mishdish02.blogspot.com

I don’t think so! If conventional was the next best thing, I would most likely be a pen, piece of paper or door mate. All of which I am not. There might come a time when life is incredibly hard, with challenges that you might no t be able to achieve on your own, but with the correct mind set you can succeed. With this I would say, conventional should never be considered as a fallback option.

An easy example, which most of you can relate to is assignments, when you receive that assignment brief it is limited to a certain extent in what they expect from you, but thinking outside of the box may help you achieve that 100% or even more. Being conventional is a very safe approach to life; however you can’t gain great things if you do not risk great loss.

Think of traveling up the stream like a salmon, when you feel restricted and believe me your mindset will change. What is your opinion on this matter of being conventional?

We are killing our environment!

Caption: Air Pollution, one of many forms of pollution, which we are responsible for.
Source: http://library.thinkquest.org/09jan-oracle-n-001/02239/files/landpollution.jpg

Have you tried to figure out what this topic discusses without even reading content, which will follow? Well, let me make it much easier for you my valued reader. In this blog post, I will be discussing Pollution, because it’s something we need to take note of it and have preventative measures, which could combat pollution.

Pollution is the introduction of contaminants in a natural environment which would create adverse changes to its surroundings. Pollution can take the form of anything, where it be chemical substances or energy, namely: noise, heat or even light.

Caption: We can stop this!
Source:http://library.thinkquest.org/09jan-oracle-n-001/02239/files/landpollution.jpg

A sad reality is that we as people populate our world on a daily basis, whether it be through smoking, driving or even throwing that unwanted paper in the streets rather than placing it in a refuge bin.

There are a variety of identified pollution types/forms, namely:
• Air Pollution.
• Land Pollution.
• Light Pollution.
• Marine Pollution.

I know for a fact that I am guilty of one those forms of pollution, which I immediately corrected (air pollution). In where, I’m too lazy and I end up driving to the shops, which is a few steps away. Think of your environment right NOW, the power is in your hands!

If you do the crime, expect to do the time!

Caption: As the quote says, if you can't do the time. Don't even think about it!
Source: memegenerator.net

Before I start, I would like to firstly define the word ‘crime’? Crime is the breach of rules or laws which some governing authority can ultimately prescribe a conviction. Many theorists have said that crimes may also result in cautions, rehabilitation or be unenforced.

Every crime violates a law whether it is petty crimes or crimes with aggravating circumstances. In the past few years we have witnessed some of the worst crimes in South Africa, namely the murder of Taliep Petersen, Lee Matthews etc.

Many criminals believe that they will get off scott free if they commit crimes like those mentioned, well guess again! For every legal transgression, you will be caught out, whether it be for stealing money or small objects. With everything act, there is a reaction and therefore, think clearly before you act recklessly.

The famous words of Spiderman, “With great power comes great responsibility” which to me means that we all have the great knowledge and wisdom, but we need to act responsibly. Crime in our day and age has become almost a daily issue, although these criminals are being held accountable I feel that it isn’t enough for crimes such as: Rape and Murder. What are your views?

You cannot chase two rabbits at the same time.

Caption: Try and chase two rabbits, and see what the outcome is!
Source: deannbessick.blogspot.com

The meaning of this phrase or saying can be related to our wants. In life we want everything and we try and run after everything which can sometimes get you nothing, because it would be almost impossible to run in two directions at the same time, unless you are a superhero, which is highly unlikely.

It is important to note your priorities because if we don’t we could lose sight of that which we strive to achieve. You should know what you want and have the capability of letting go of that which you want in order to get the most beneficial factors or sectors.

We should always work for every single thing we desire, and singling that which we want the most and having a back-up plan in case you can’t have it and this will allow you to at least have some form of achievement.

Novels I want to write…..

Caption: Writing a book or novel starts with your ideas, so think wisely!
Source: heidiisern.com

I found my passion in writing but before I did, I have always wanted to write a novel/book about my life or something similar to the Harry Potter theme, but unfortunately my ideas and concepts were terrible. However, to establish a theme or topic which would create not only an understanding but generate a talking point with an audience is difficult.

Ideas that I formulated for novels are a bit too graphic namely: zombie apocalypses or a ghosts, which seems a bit strange but it is extremely easy to formulate a concept surrounding these themes. When I was 13 years old, I sat down a wrote a short story about zombies, which turned out to be extremely boring, but my heart is set on writing a book one day, although finding a topic worthy enough to write about is slowly formulating in my mind but let’s leave it for now!

If you could write a book, what would it be based on and who would the leading characters be?

The Beauty of Cape Town

Caption: A view of Table Mountain seen from Robben Island.
Source: awoltours.co.za

I have been living in Cape Town for my entire life and to be very honest, we as Capetonians need to be very thankful for the natural beauty, that we have which is TABLE MOUNTAIN voted one of the seven wonders of the world.

If you are to take a walk around our city you’ll begin to visualize how magnificent our city really is.

I took a walk along the Sea Point promenade, and saw people walking, running, kayaking, cycling, skateboarding, fishing and playing with their kids and dogs as well as playing at the park. You feel so alive in this beautiful city!

While walking on Sea Point promenade, you'll see Robben Island in the distance and the view of the majestic Devils Peak and Lions Head mountain. Table Mountain gives positive energy to all those waking up to the view of this natural beauty, and is why people call it the Mother City.

I’m so lucky to live in one of the world most beautiful cities on earth! Why do you feel lucky to be living in such a magnificent city, such as Cape Town?

Just GOOGLE it!

Caption: You can Google just about anything!
Source: partners.aligned-marketing.com

The convenience of Information Technology or technology in the 21st century is so extreme that with a ‘click’ of a button we can find information extremely easily, BUT the most commonly used term, I heard while studying was ‘Just Google it!’. The scary thing is that Google is becoming the most used search engine in the world and books or hardcopies are slowly fading away.

As a student, I do admit that I mostly use GOOGLE when researching for assignments but the innovative tools, which it now hosts are increasingly helpful, such as: Google Scholar, Google Maps etc.

Google Scholar assists you to find any form of research conducted on any subject and Google Maps has an incredible realism to it, which also displays real images, that we see with our very own eyes. This really shows how developed technology and this industry is becoming.

If you don’t know, what I’m referring to then ‘JUST GOOGLE IT’

“Nothing is more dangerous than an idea, when you only have on idea” (Alain)

Caption: depending on your level of achievement and knowledge, one idea could be the best.
Source: ziyadnazem.info

My understanding of the statement, would be that when a person has only one idea, then this person would then be at risk of just seeing things in that one way or view, or becoming obsessed with the one idea to such an extent that he or she would fail to see all the opportunities that would come their way.

Having something to focus on or a goal in life could lead to an obsession to a certain extent, due to you being more worried about it than anything else. At the rate that we are developing, we need three types of goals namely:
1. Career goals.
2. Personal goals.
3. Community goals.

Aligned to these goals should be the expectations and methods of achieving them and YES its says goals which means more than one, because you need to have an idea of how you would achieve it.

The more ideas you and I have the more you end up getting things right or wrong. For example, swimming, for the first time you won’t be able to swim (no ideas), you then learn how to float and then kick which then leads to you swimming (first idea), you then gain momentum and you begin swimming which leads to a variety of ideas such as breathing, speed etc. We all learn different disciplines at our own space but it’s good to have more than one idea or concept.

Nervousness, we all face it!

Caption: We all feel nervous some time or the other.
Source: presentersforum.com

Nervousness could be defined as a number of elements but the most outstanding elements are that of Worry, and Anxiety. To be quiet frank, we are all nervous at some point within our lives and without it; life would not be the same.

This blog is not based on nervousness, but it is rather based on how to overcome it. The Positivity Blog, provides 7 tips on how to overcome nervousness, and they are:
1. Be prepared for anything.
2. Ask yourself: what is the worst that could happen?
3. Visualize in a positive way.
4. Practise, practise and practise!
5. Realize that people don’t care about what you do.
6. Stay in the present (this day and age).
7. Deep breathes.
These are basics tips that could assist in reducing or assisting you in overcoming nervousness.

If am or at least was a very nervous individual, till I used these elements which assisted me in realizing that it is greener on the other side of life, and that some people don’t care as to whether what you do. Some example of nervousness: at job interviews, on a date, important meetings or a presentation infront of your class. These are clear reasons for nervousness within you and me. Please provide any other examples!

Have you figured out the second head fake?

Caption: Some people fight have many more fake personalities! (on there shoulders)
Source: onanymous.deviantart.com

My interpretation of this blog topic is based on how fake people can be. For example, people and family who act fake only when they are in need of something, but other than that they show there other head which could be negativity and only caring about themselves. It’s a sad reality but we live in the time, when people care about themselves only.

I have seen the second head fake of many a people, even my own family, that seems very friendly at first but when they need you to do something for them, they are suddenly the friendliest person in the world. I have come to realize that I do the best that I can, although people show me that they are fake.

For example, an aunt would not greet or even look at you but at her time of need, she would expect you to run to her side and help, although I would feel very negative about it but I try and overcome the negativity and force myself to be a positive or act positively around people who treat you and others badly.

Have you experienced this already, because I know I have! Give me an example of an experience you had which relates to people being fake around you?

Laughter is the best medicine

Caption: This picture illustrates that laughter is indeed the best medicine.
Source: fida-sunshine.blogspot.com

This is a common heard statement from many elderly people, which was the inspiration of this blog. According to HelpGuide.org, Laughter also triggers healthy physical changes in the body. Humor and laughter strengthens your immune system, boosts your energy, diminishes pain, and protects you from the damaging effects of stress.

Laughter is great for your health (according to HelpGuide.org):
1. Relaxes the whole body.
2. Boosts the immune system.
3. Triggers the release of endorphins (which promotes overall wellbeing).
4. Protects your heart.

I truly believe that laughter is the best medicine on earth, due to its physical, mental and social health benefits, laughter should be the most prescribed form of medication by all doctors, rather than those drugs made available by doctors in this day and age.

What is your opinion based on “Laughter being the best medicine”?

The sponge effect!

Caption: Children are becoming much more advanced then anytime before.
Source: ehow.com

I have come to learn that in this day and age, children are becoming smarter and advanced at an early age. For example, a 5 year old child having the knowhow of operating mobile phones or even using Television remotes to change the channels to their respective favorite programmes.

Have you ever said a word or phrase and then immediately you find the child repeating that very phrase or word? Well, that is because they pick up information on just about everything and they enjoy learning new things, this is what I call the sponge effect.

The scary thing is that children unconsciously soak up information from the environment in which they surround themselves in. For example, my nephew he picks up information so easily, because he consciously and unconsciously listens to conversations people are having and then questions what it means.

Have you encountered an experience in where children use words, which they have heard you use in a conversation?

I am…?

Caption: I believe that we are all equal in different aspects.
Source: blog.beliefnet.com

Who am I, well I’m Spiderman! I have always wanted to say that. To be quiet frank, I’m an individual who works very hard, when my mind is applied. I hardly take no for an answer, and absolutely hate it when people take advantage of oneself.

It actually makes me think of becoming a super hero, for example, if I was a superhero, I’d mostly be someone or something containing mind reading, super strength and speed abilities, which would be there to assist me in preventing people in taking advantage as well as carrying out projects and programme at the snap of my fingers. Would this not be great? I truly think so!

If you have read my blogs, you would be aware that I am an avid petrol head (car enthusiast) meaning, I love anything related to cars, but let’s leave it at that for now! You have read about me, so I believe in getting to know my readers/followers a bit, so describe yourself using one word and only one!

Fears…

Caption: We all try and hide our fears.
Source: tonymorganlive.com

It’s so easy to say that we live in a perfect world, but I am wrong because in this world we have fears. Fears that can negatively impact us, or the way in which we act as well as the way we observe the world around us. According to Kids Health, Fear is one of the most basic human emotions, which is programmed into the nervous system and works like an instinct.

This instinct is part of us from the time that we are born, till when we grow up. Fears assist us to respond with ‘fear’ when we sense danger or feel unsafe. Kids Health also states that Fear helps protect us from the environment in which we surround ourselves in. I believe this to be true to a certain extent, but fears could also prevent us in achieving and accomplishing goals that some of us have set out to achieve in our lifetime.

For example, when I walk around at night time. I constantly have the feeling that there’s something is behind me and I frantically look over my shoulder regardless how muscular I maybe, well that’s fear, which is instilled within both me and you. Imagine, life without FEAR, well some people think that they are fearless until addressed with a situation. I believe that we all have fear instilled within each one of us! My fear is the fear of doing something wrong in the public eye, better known as Scoobyphobia or Agoraphobia. Well you now know my phobia or fear. What are your fear or fears?

The development of technology in the 21st century.

Caption: The world is in the your hands, as to either you become technologically savvy or not!
Source: k12educationtechnology.com

In the 21st century technology is being updated on a daily basis, which means we are constantly updating our technological capabilities. By updating ourselves with technology, we practically force businesses and scientists to think and become more innovative with technology.

The aim of this blog, is to prove the daily advancement of technology in this day and age. For example, Blackberry or iPhones for instance, every day or week better forms of phones or even innovative software is created, which shows that the worlds technological capabilities are constantly increasing and we need to adapt to it. Can you believe it, that whilst reading this blog post something is being developed, in some building, on some piece of land out there!

We need to become more technologically savvy, because we are slowly moving to an age where cars will probably fly, and computers would be programmed into our finger tips but lets keep it at that. We need to adapt to change as it happens, because without it, we would not be as capable as those who do and in the western world, if you don’t have one (one meaning= one item of anything). Then you would be deemed as uncool or stuck in the stone age. Move with the times or you’ll stay behind!

You can’t choose 15 minutes but why would you be world famous?

Caption: Only time can tell if you would become world famous.
Source: askipedia.com

I hadn’t thought of myself becoming world famous, simply because I’ve always thought of myself as a quiet, uncover and reserved tyrpe of person. I like to come up with innovative ideas and work on projects that can uplift people and businesses, but yet I try to stay out of the lime light. But that’s a story for another day.

If I were to be world famous for 15 minutes, it would most likely be for helping businesses or those who are underprivileged or basically fore filling Nelson Mandela’s dream and mission in life. If I had one wish, it would be to uplift communities in such a way that people can cope and learn to become for self-sufficient rather than depending on others for help and assistance.

My dreams mission would be to assist in establishing small businesses that can empower others, which would assist people in gaining employment and decreasing the level of unemployment within our wonderful country. Although, we could do more, but I believe that starting off small will assist in growing and becoming bigger in the future. With dreams and aspirations, anything can become possible! Just do it!

Why is Photography so commercialised and popular?

Caption: Behind every picture is an artist!
Source: brooklynartproject.com

To be quiet frank, cameras are becoming more easily available to the consumer now than ever before. Social Media and other fields have made photography more apparent in this day and age.

My own personal opinion on this matter is that anyone and everyone has the ability to take a good picture, but capturing the moment which in the future could tell a thousand words, would set you apart from the amateur photographer out there. Especially, in the local car scene in Cape Town, we find ourselves with hundreds of people walking around with high resolution cameras, but then you think to yourself, do they really know the art of photographer.

It isn’t just about capturing an image but creating a story at the same time. At the same time it could also give your audience an opportunity to share an event or an experience with them, but I believe what makes a photographer is there passion to constantly learn and train to be perfect at capturing the perfect picture etc.

There are many well-known photographers out there that are constantly working on improving their techniques and styles but unfortunately the amateur out there primarily focus on taking pictures, other than trying to improve themselves. If you want to be a professional photographer, I’d suggest you sit down with one and communicate with them on how you can become a professional photographer. Believe me, it will pay off!

A skill set called leadership

Caption: Leadership is a skill that moves the world forward.
Source: nwlink.com

In the 21st century, information on leadership is easily obtainable. When reading about leadership, I came across four common questions such as: Are they born? Are they made? What skills do they posses? How are they made? Well, I believe that it is extremely difficult to pin point their characteristics, or even shadow these great leader’s lifestyles.

The great leaders that come to mind are: Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Richard Branson, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and Martin Luther King etc. These great leaders weren’t worried about becoming great leaders but there passion for making a difference had ensured that they would become classified as great leaders of the World.

For example, Nelson Mandela, he had a vision that was not based on personal gain but a vision about having a positive impact on people’s lives. With the amount of commitment he had kept his vision in mind, and together with the other great leaders they set out with a positive frame of minds, which ensured that no amount of challenges could deter them from achieving their goals.

I honestly, believe that leadership is a status given to someone who sets an example within their culture or level of expertise or it could be given to a exemplary individual, but it can’t be taken our added to your title.

In order, to become a great leader I suggest that you not only DREAM BIG, but you should also think of how you can help others develop, and use every breath, dream, action and minute to ensure that you set out to make it happen and ensure that no challenge can impact your vision and focus.

Online Safety

Caption: No matter who you are. It will happen to you!
Source: technologyrants.com

We live in a world that is becoming more technically savvy, and more sophisticated. As we progress in this day and age, we are constantly required to use passwords to protect our information and accounts. Well this blog will assist you! According to NO-IP, “Choosing a password is easy; choosing a password that is safe is a complete different story.” NO-IP have formulated 10 tips for choosing a safe password to safeguard all of your accounts from fraud:

1. Choose a password with mixed case letters, numbers and symbols ($,*,@).
2. Choose a password that is NOT related to anything that has special meaning to you.
3. Use a different password for every account that you have.
4. Change your passwords frequently (every 3 months or so).
5. Don’t use a word that is found in the dictionary.
6. Make your passwords 8 characters or longer.
7. Use a virtual keyboard when entering passwords as it won’t let a keylogger program capture your key strokes.
8. Use a string of words.
9. Pick a word that you can type quickly and easily remember without having to look it up.
10. Make sure you can easily remember it!
